2021SS-AWは「DO THE RE:THINK」をテーマに、クラシック(定番)なスタイルをvelo spica のフィルターを通して今日的な解釈の下、再構築したコレクションをお届けしています。
2021SSローンチのFlipper Capは、永遠の定番『ベースボールキャップ』に新しい解釈を加えて作ったモデルです。2021AWではそんなFlipper Capに待望のメリノウールモデル登場です。その優れた温度調整機能からベースレイヤーとしてもはや定番のメリノウールをメインファブリックに、ツバ裏は速乾性のあるT/Cツイルにする事で、メリノウールの保湿・保温性に加えて速乾性を向上させました。
ラグジュアリーなメリノ生地を使いながらも、ツバ裏をライトグレーツイルに切り替えることで、敢えてベースボールキャップらしいストリートのテイストをプラスしました。
素材はもちろんでディテールにも拘りました。ヴィンテージのベースボールキャップにも見られる8パネルのパターンは、頭に沿った美しい丸みが特徴です。実際の被りの深さに対して帽子がコンパクトで浅めに見えるデザインは今の気分に良くハマります。近年一般的な6パネルと比べ、パーツが多く、手間が掛かる仕様ですので、8パネルを製作しているところ自体が減ってきています。
ツバは前回同様、柔らかく折りたたむ事も出来、かつ形をキープさせやすい特殊な加工が施されたフレキシブル・バイザーを採用しています。またvelo spica のツバの特徴でもあるフリップ・アップ(視界を広げたい時にはツバを上に跳ね上げる)して被ることも可能です。
汗止めには定番のCOOLMAX®︎を使用しており、快適さを保ちます。

※ 洗濯は中性洗剤での手洗いをお勧めしております。なお干す時は、軽く生地を伸ばし、帽子の形を整えてから、日陰で平干し、もしくは吊り干しして下さい。もし洗濯機を使用する場合は洗濯ネットをお使い下さい。生地は汗を吸った状態で放置しますと黄ばみや変色の原因となりますので適度な洗濯をお願い致します。
※ フリップアップは背面のアジャスターをややしっかりとテンションがかかるように調整した方が上げ下げがし易くなります。
※ ツバを丸めて小さく畳む事も可能です。素材の性質上、繰り返し畳む事でナイロン生地・メッシュ生地は柔らかくなっていきます。硬い状態が良い場合は、畳まずにお使い下さい。水洗いしてスチームアイロンをかける事で型崩れはある程度戻ります。

Merino wool, now well-known as a base layer for its excellent temperature control function, is used as the main fabric, and the brim is made of quick-drying T/C twill, which improves quick-drying performance in addition to the moisture retention and insulation characteristics of merino wool. While the luxurious merino wool fabric is used, the brim lining is switched to light gray twill to give the cap a street style baseball cap look.
The material is of course the main concern, but the details as well.
The 8-panel pattern, as seen in vintage baseball caps, has a beautiful rounded shape that follows the line of the head. The cap's compact and shallow design, compared to the actual depth of the headband, fits well with today's trends. In recent years, there have been fewer and fewer 8-panel caps being made because of the large number of parts and the time and effort required compared to the 6-panel cap.
What is also noteworthy about the sewing is that the back (lower) thread is sewn in chain stitch. This is a specification that is still often used in jeans, but in the past, many American- made caps had this specification. This is a homage to the vintage.
It is a neo-vintage design that combines classic detailing with tech materials. There are only a few factories in Japan that can produce hats with this back chain stitching, and it will become more and more rare as time goes by. The brim is made of ”flex visor” which is soft, foldable and easy to keep its shape. The brim can also be flipped up, which is a characteristic of velo spica's brims, for a wider field of vision. The well-known COOLMAX® material is used to prevent perspiration and keep the wearer comfortable.

The core material inside the brim is 2mm thick, which is a new standard ”flex visor” that is both soft enough to be rolled up without breaking and hard enough to be shaped with fingers, while still being firm. The brim can be worn flat or bent.

・We recommend hand washing with a mild detergent. When drying, stretch the fabric lightly to shape the hat and spin dry or hang dry in the shade. If using a washing machine, use a laundry net. If the fabric is left to absorb perspiration, it may turn yellow or discolor, so please wash the hat in moderation.
・Flip-ups can be easily raised and lowered by adjusting the adjuster on the back so that the tension is a little tighter.
・It is also possible to fold the brim into a smaller size. Due to the characteristics of the material, the nylon and mesh fabrics will become softer by frequent folding. If you prefer it to be hard, please use without folding.
・If the product is left in a high temperature environment for a long period of time, the shape of the brim may become deformed. When storing the product, please keep it in a shady place where it will not be exposed to high temperatures.
