After all, this is the first time velo spica has used an original all-over pattern fabric.
The smooth surface of the fabric, made by plain weaving of taslan nylon yarn, is characterized by the matte, cotton-like relaxed vibe that is also a feature of this processing (taslan processing).
The lightweight and durable taslan threads have become a well-known material for outdoor clothing. Especially this new product has a flexi finish, which is usually treated with a water repellent finish afterwards, so that the nylon fabric can easily absorb moisture.
After using various types of nylon fabrics, I feel that sweat absorption and quick-drying are more appreciated than water repellency in many situations. For that reason, we decided not to use water repellency with this product.
It is also an attractive feature of nylon that it is more resistant to odors caused by sweat and grease than polyester.
This is the reason why velo spica often uses nylon mesh. There are some nylon fabrics that have a good balance of water repellency, sweat absorption, and quick-drying properties, but as mentioned in a previous blog, there is a missing element that makes it difficult to decide which fabric to use.
In addition, I think I have already introduced this in my previous blog, but to review, let me explain the Taslan treatment.
What is the Taslan process?
Non-twisted yarn. The yarns are not twisted together, and compressed air is blown over the filaments to loop them and bind them together, resulting in increased volume.
It may be difficult to understand what it means, but thread is usually produced by twisting several very fine filaments together, called "twisted thread. Originally, yarn from silkworm cocoons is very thin and has poor thickness and strength. In order to use them as yarn, several filaments are twisted together in a bundle. This is the thread ("twisted thread"). The texture of the fabric is changed by combining different numbers of twists, different thicknesses of threads, and different thicknesses of threads.
Taslan treatment gives the fabric a cotton-like appearance that is more like natural materials than twisted nylon fabrics. Other advantages of the taslan finish include excellent durability and light weight.
↑The fabric is an authentic ethnic pattern inspired by the outdoor and surf wear from the 90s.
Hidden in the patterns are motifs such as cassette tapes, shockwave, characters of "that" music band, and jacket designs. The patterns are cut randomly and become parts of the hat. It is a matter of luck for the customer who purchases the hat which pattern is in it. If you get one, please take a look at the pattern of your hat again and see if you like it.
